In a press conference in San Francisco today, Nintendo of America announced several RPGs for DS that will be making the jump to our shores. Those titles, along with their release dates (if known) are listed below for your viewing convenience:
Chrono Trigger - Square Enix - American Thanksgiving Week (likely November 25, 2008)
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon - Nintendo - 2009
Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Alma - Nintendo - November 10, 2008
Mario and Luigi RPG 3 - Nintendo - 2009
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon appears to be a remake of the original Fire Emblem from the NES days. If you're wondering why you never played it, it would likely be due to the fact that it never made it out of Japan. It was released as Fire Emblem: Shin Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Ken (lit. New Shadow Dragon and the Sword of Light) in August in Japan.
I suppose its nice to hear that Mario and Luigi 3 will make the jump, but what ever happened to ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat and Soma Bringer? Those games have been out forever in Japan, and yet no word on North American release? C'mon, Nintendo.
Not that it matters, I suppose. I have the Japanese versions both of them.
You can check out Destructoid's liveblog of the press event here (which is the most complete summary I have seen so far.)

Sorry to get your hopes up.
Chrono Trigger will be Chrono Trigger. With Pokemon style monster training. Or so the internet claims.
