Flux Capacitor... Fluxing: Chrono Trigger DS Announced
So, I think I crapped my pants when I saw this.
Chrono Trigger is one of the most beloved JRPGs of the Super Nintendo. ...Scratch that. Chrono Trigger is one of the most beloved JRPGs OF ALL TIME. Its gorgeous soundtrack, fan-favorite character designs, and captivating story are considered by many RPG enthusiasts (myself included) as timeless. Indeed, many would cite Chrono Trigger as the best RPG ever made.
Well, for those of a younger generation who never got to experience Chrono Trigger in all its 16-bit glory, and for those die-hard Chrono Trigger fans who have been waiting patiently for a new entry in the Chrono Trigger saga, you have a very nice Christmas present waiting for you this year.
Chrono Trigger DS has been confirmed by Square Enix to be making its way to the little dual-screened monster this Christmas for both North America and Japan. Though we have precious few details at the moment, it has been confirmed that the game will retain its original story, characters, and soundtrack, but will feature some additional content, including a new dungeon. That being said, we are not 100% sure at this time if CTDS is an enhanced port or a true remake (like FFIVDS).
For any of you who are unaware of just how freakin' awesome this news is, I would recommend that you somehow get a hold of a copy of the original (remember that you can NOT download a ROM for this on the NOT internet to play on your NOT computer) and give it a spin.
I, for one, will be a very happy boy this Christmas.
UPDATE: According to what I have gleaned from the internet, CTDS will indeed be an "enhanced port," meaning that it will keep its original 2D graphics, but have additional content (like the aforementioned bonus dungeon). No other enhancements have been announced at this time, but may be forthcoming in the months between now and release.
