Atlus Japan Developing a Multiplatform RPG?

Ah, help wanted ads. You've spoiled so many surprises for people lucky enough to search for you. You spoiled the Star Ocean 4 on Xbox 360 surprise. You spoiled the Atlus MMO coming to North America surprise. And now you're about to do it again.

Atlus, Japanese developer and publisher of the fan-favorite Megami Tensei series, has been advertising for a programmer with game development experience to work on an upcoming RPG for "PS3, Xbox 360, and like consoles." The help wanted ad was posted on JobEnt.jp (a Monster.com-esque site dedicated to the Japanese entertainment industry) on July 2nd, 2008, and is active until September 18, 2008.

Since this is no confirmation of any specific titles, all we know for sure at this point is that Atlus is working on an unannounced RPG for such consoles as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. But I think that is enough to spark some intense speculation.

Will this be a new entry into the company's flagship Megami Tensei series, a title in one of their smaller IPs, or a new IP altogether? Will this title be multiplatform right from launch, or will it garner a "timed exclusive" stance? Will the game see a worldwide launch window like so many recent RPGs? How far along in development is this title? How long will we have to wait for it?

Unfortunately, we have no answers for any of these questions at the moment, but all fans of Atlus' games should be quite excited to see the games finally making the jump to 7th generation hardware. I know I am.

I've got my fingers crossed for some info at this year's TGS, but I guess we'll just have to see.

Let the rampant speculation fly!
