RPGs of the Week: A Musical Edition

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was rubbish. Never thought I'd be so happy for a Monday.

Anyways, the new week brings with it a brand new set of RPGs for your mass consumption. The following titles are shipping around the globe this week (September 22 - 27, 2008).

North America
Disgaea DS - Nippon Ichi, NIS America - Nintendo DS
King's Bounty: The Legend - Katauri Interactive, Atari - PC
Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure - Nippon Ichi, NIS America - Nintendo DS

Japan
Knights in the Nightmare - Sting - Nintendo DS
Kumatanchi - Vanillaware, Dimple Entertainment - Nintendo DS
Mana-Khemia: Gakuen no Renkinjutsushi-tachi Portable Plus - Gust - PSP
Soul Cradle: Sekai wo Kurau Mono (The Best) - Nippon Ichi - PlayStation 2

Super Robot Taisen Z - Banpresto, Namco Bandai - PlayStation 2
World Destruction - imageepoch, Sega - Nintendo DS
X-Edge - Compile Heart - PlayStation 3
Zwei II - Falcom - PC

Europe
Battle Fantasia - Arc System Works, 505 Games - Xbox 360
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood - BioWare, Sega - Nintendo DS

NIS brings a couple of its classics to the DS here in North America (of the which, only some extreme nostalgia for Rhapsody entices me), and there's a Western-developed SRPG for you PC lovers.

Europe nabs Battle Fantasia a week later than their North American counterparts, but grabs Sonic Chronicles roughly a week earlier.

Japan, of course, has it sweet this week with some interesting DS titles (World Destruction and Knights in the Nightmare), a couple of keep-the-PS2-alive injections, a blasphemous cross-over abomination on the PS3, and a cool new PC title from Falcom (who are awesome).

I'll be getting Rhapsody eventually (not sure if it will be this week or not), and I'll probably look into World Destruction and Zwei II (if my laptop can handle it).

Also, Kumatanchi. It's legitimacy as an RPG is questionable, but it's made by Vanillaware and looks way too adorable to ignore. Don't judge me.

What's looking promising to you this week?

Nothing looks good tbh. In fact the next rpg, hell the next game I'm getting will be Fable 2 as I only have a Xbox 360 (sold the Wii, what a POS). Then, after that, I'm getting Fallout 3 and Last Remnant, and maybe Sacred 2...

Oh, and just over 2 weeks to TGS, I'm getting really anxious to hear some news on some new jrpgs for 360 :-)

Yeah, TGS excitement ftw! Sword Machine TGS predictions should be up sometime next week, and I'm considering doing a TGS announcement bingo - could be good times. Also, Mistwalker.

I'll agree with you that there's no great reason to have a Wii at the moment (unless you can't live without Smash Brothers or Harvest Moon), but if all the new RPGs that are scheduled to come out next year are as cool as they look, 2009 might be the year to finally pick one up for me.

...Provided Nintendo makes them in black. I hate white electronics.

Battle Fantasia isn't a RPG.
