Get Equipped with: Summon Night X

The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has taken a closer look at Flight Plan and Namco Bandai's recently announced Summon Night X: Tears Crown.

The article gives an overview of the Summon Night series up until this point, explaining its SRPG roots, and noting that this latest title will be the 10th game in the series (that includes the spin-off titles, like the recently released Twin Age).

However, probably the most informative section of the article delves into the game's system, showing off what features fans of the series can expect to see returning, and which features are new for this title. Notably, fans should appreciate the conversation system which will be handled in the traditional Japanese talking portraits fashion, but will allow you to build relationships with your party members.

New to this title, as previously mentioned, is the turn-based battle system which makes use of both screens on the DS (nostalgic of Sega and imageepoch's World Destruction), though retains a very visually colorful design, in keeping with the look of previous Summon Night titles.

Finally, as in previous titles, the player will be given the choice of playing through the story as either a male or female protagonist. The male hero is the 17 year old prince of the Deltiana Empire, Dylan, whereas the female lead is the 16 year old princess of the Kingdom of Celestia, Farah.

Summon Night X: Tears Crown will be available in Japan on Nintendo DS on February 12, 2009. No word on a North American or European release.
