Divinity II Demo in Time for Christmas

Game news - especially RPG news - tends to slow down around Christmas time. Not hard to believe as its rare for RPGs to be released at all in December (notable exceptions recognized). But publisher dtp has decided to spruce up your holidays with a demo for their upcoming RPG, Divinity II: Ego Draconis (well, it's actually already out in Europe).

As a quick refresher, Divinity II focuses around a young dragon slayer who is inadvertantly granted the powers of a dragon knight - aka, the ability to transform into a dragon - in order to save the kingdom from evil.

The demo dropped yesterday morning on Xbox Live and PC for your downloading pleasure.

Coupled with today's End of Eternity Japanese demo, you might just be able to survive on demos alone until you (hopefully) get some new games for Christmas! ;)

Divinity II: Ego Draconis will be available for PC and Xbox 360 on January 5, 2010 in North America. It is already available in Europe.

Divinity 2 Still Alive, Has Screens to Prove It

Perhaps you remember Divinity 2? You know, that hack and slash PC-style RPG set for release early this year on PC and Xbox 360? Yeah, we haven't really had much of an update, but developer Larian Studios has dropped off some new screens to refresh your memory.

Divinity 2 takes place years after the death of the Divine (the hero of the original title) at the hands of a Dragon Knight. Furious at his death, the Divine's paladins swore revenge and formed the Dragon Slayers. Your character happens to be an apprentice Dragon Slayer, and you begin the game heading off to slay a dragon reported in the area.

Through some twist of fate, it appears that you will instead acquire the dragon's powers, and inadvertently become a Dragon Knight yourself.

Divinity II: Ego Dragonis will be available for PC and Xbox 360 sometime later this year in North America and Europe.

For more screens and the game's trailer, you can check out the game's official site here.

Divinity 2 Graces Xbox 360 and PC with its Presence

I haven't gamed my PC a lot since I was a lot younger. I still do a little bit, but not enough to consider myself an avid PC gamer by any stretch of the imagination. With that in mind, please excuse my ignorance when I admit that I've never heard of Divine Divinity before.

Developed by a small Belgian studio, Larian Studios, the original Divine Divinity (released in 2002) apparently was quite well-received, garnering praise and honors from various critics. It gained a few expansions and spin-offs, and is often compared to something of a cross between Diablo and Ultima (2 PC games I am aware of).

Anyways! Fast forward to the present: Larian Studios has recently announced that Divine Divinity's sequel, Divinity II: Ego Draconis, is nearing completion, and will appear on PC and Xbox 360 during Q2 2009.

Set in the magical world of Rivellon, Divinity II places the player in the role of a Dragon Slayer who will eventually make his way to the auspicious title of Dragon Lord, and (assumedly) save the world from the return of the Demon.

So far all we have to go on are a few teaser screens and a very lovely soundtrack clip on the game's teaser site. I must say, the game looks very nice. If Larian can present a story and gameplay to match the graphics, they could definitely have a winner on their hands.
