Watch the Fragile Opening

Tri-Crescendo and Namco Bandai's Fragile: Sayonara Tsuki no Haikyo went on sale yesterday in Japan. Though there is no confirmation of an English release, the game remains one of my most anticipated titles this year.

Gamekyo has been kind enough to rip the opening sequence of the game, featuring the game's theme song by Aoi Teshima, Hikari.

Watch it below.

My Fragile Heart Breaks Over the Latest Fragile Trailer

Namco Bandai has just released what I would imagine is the final trailer for Fragile: Sayonara Tsuki no Haikyo before it launches next week. It shows off a lot more gameplay and story elements, so those who want to be completely surprised might want to skip it. It is, however, the best trailer for the game to date.

I just can't figure out how they have been able to yank on my heartstrings for nearly every video they show of this. I don't even wanna watch it again for fear that I might just start sobbing or something.

Check it out.

Wow... Yeah, I'm buying a Japanese Wii to play this. Dammit.

Fragile: Sayonara Tsuki no Haikyo will be available on Nintendo Wii on January 22, 2009 in Japan.

2 New Fragile Trailers are Barely Different

Namco Bandai has recently released two new trailers for their upcoming Wii exploration RPG, Fragile: Sayonara Tsuki no Haikyo. Both offer some slightly new scenes and gameplay, but don't ultimately offer anything that will surprise you.

Watch them below.

I really love the concept and aesthetic behind this game, but I don't know if these trailers are going to change anyone's mind about it one way or the other. I guess they're just confident with it. And that's cool.

Fragile Gets a Firm Release Date, Slips to 2009

Tri-Crescendo and Namco Bandai's exploration-RPG has been given a firm release date this morning from Namco Bandai via the game's official Japanese site, and has unfortunately fallen into early next year, shipping to stores in Japan on January 22, 2009.

Fragile: Sayonara Tsuki no Haikyo (Farewell Lunar Ruins) follows a young man named Seth who awakens to find that he might be the only human left alive. After discovering a strange silver-haired girl named Ren, Seth determines to find and save her, if only to save himself from being alone.

Developed by Tri-Cescendo (Baten Kaitos, Eternal Sonata), Fragile appears to be the developer's most ambitious title yet, attempting to blur the line between art and gaming.

Fragile: Farewell Lunar Ruins will be available on Nintendo Wii on Japan on January 22, 2009, with currently no word on a North American or European release.

The New Fragile Trailer is Gorgeous

There's something about watching from a hand-held camcorder, hollow and echoing audio, and floods of people moving around and talking that distracts from the overall brilliance of certain trailers. In this case, though I watched the new trailer for Tri-Crescendo and Namco Bandai's upcoming game Fragile, the elegance and melancholy of it were all but completely lost.

So, in order to properly present the sheer beauty of this game, I give you the direct feed trailer:

I will say this much: If the full game manages to capture and hold on to that beautiful sense of sadness that the Japanese do so well, Fragile: Farewell Lunar Ruins might become one of the most compelling and memorable video game experiences yet.

...If not, well, at least it will present the first wedding of waggle and flashlight mechanics into an RPG.

Post-TGS 2008: New Fragile Trailer in Crappy Quality

During the just-ended Tokyo Game Show, Namco Bandai released a new trailer for its upcoming Wii exploration RPG, Fragile: Farewell Lunar Ruins.

Unfortunately, I haven't yet been able to find a direct feed trailer, so you'll have to live with this off-screen cam trailer until I can get a hold of one. Sorry.

Note the lack of a firm release date at the end of the trailer. It still says "Sometime this Winter," but it looks like "this Winter" refers to early next year. Too bad...

TGS 2008: Fragile Gameplay is Explorerific

Do you like exploring abandoned places? Enjoy carrying a flashlight with you wherever you go? Prefer to defeat evil using a golf club? Then Fragile: Farewell Lunar Ruins is made especially for you.

Check out Fragile's exploration-heavy, combat-light gameplay below, and prepare your flashlight pointing skills.

I think this game looks pretty sweet. The combat looks a little clumsy, but it is clearly not the main focus of the game (at least in the demo area).

Fragile gets a New Trailer, Still Due This Year

Giggity has previously given you a preview of Namco Bandai and Tri-Crescendo's upcoming Wii RPG, Fragile: Sayonara Tsuki no Haikyo (Farewell Lunar Ruins), and I'll be one of the first to admit that the game looks very promising. That being said, however, the announced 2008 release date has seemed less and less likely to me as the year has worn on, as we have gotten almost no word on the title since its announcement last winter.

Well, Namco Bandai has just released a new trailer for Fragile, and while it remains a very intriguing title, it also sports the little "To Be Released 2008" tag at the very end. Good news indeed. Hopefully this means we in North America will be able to get out hands on it sometime early next year. Hopefully.

Check out the new trailer below.
