Rune Factory Frontier North America Website Opens, Brings New Trailer

Marvelous and XSEED have recently launched the official English website for the upcoming Wii farming simulation/action-RPG, Rune Factory Frontier.

The newly opened website features character bios, information on gameplay, and various multimedia for fans hungry to get a better taste for the game before it launches in a couple of weeks.

Along with the released media and information, a new English trailer has also been released. It's a little short, but it does give a good quick look at the game in motion. Check it out below.

Rune Factory Frontier will be available for Nintendo Wii on March 17, 2009 in North America. It is already available in Japan.

Here is the Opening Video of Rune Factory Frontier

I... don't know what to say about this intro vid. Seriously. No clue at all.

Just watch it and tell me what you think.

Rune Factory Frontier will be available on Nintendo Wii in Japan on November 27, 2008. The North American release date is still unannounced.

Not News: 3 RPG CMs

I know, you love to start your week off with a little bit of Japanese TV. But not too much. Maybe just a few seconds, y'know, to get things flowing. Don't worry, we've got you covered with 3 different Japanese RPG commercials, each a quick 15 seconds long.

What's that, you say? You're a hopeless fanboy and you won't even watch commercials for games on other consoles? No need to worry, as there is a commercial for each of the current consoles. Just skip those other commercials for those consoles that you hate, and pretend that we're catering only to you!

Shiro Kishi Monogatari (PlayStation 3)

Sure, none of these commercials are particularly newsworthy, but that's why we're a blog! ;)

Scan Catch-Up Deluge

Is it just me, or has this week felt pretty slow in terms of news? I guess there were a couple of games announced (probably most the notable being Devil Survivor), but things have just felt a little slower than normal. Maybe that's a good thing...

Anyways, below are a whole pile of RPG scans from the latest issues of Famitsu and Jump. They all surfaced today (as far as I know), so I'll just throw them all together here for your browsing interest.

TGS 2008: My Rune Factory Frontier, Let Me Show You It

Marvelous has released a brand new trailer for their upcoming Wii iteration of action-RPG meets farming-RPG, Rune Factory Frontier, and highlights three main points of the game:

Farm
Adventure
Love

In that order.

Anyways, take a look below.

Well, since I do like Adventure and Love, and I suppose I don't mind Farm, I guess this is the first Harvest Moon title in a long time that I might not be able to completely ignore. Dammit.

They even let you take your date on a boat ride! That's just not even playing fair.

Rune Factory Frontier has Swimsuits, Other Stuff

If you are like me, you heard about the original Rune Factory on DS and thought that it would finally be awesome to fight monsters and tend to your own personal farm at the same time. Unfortunately, as is generally the case with me, I can't stay interested in a handheld game for much longer than a week, regardless of how cool it is in theory.

Well, as you know, Marvelous is gearing up to release a home console remake of Rune Factory in the near future. Titled Rune Factory Frontier, the remake brings all of the farming and fantasy goodness to the Wii next month in Japan, and should be seeing North American release sometime after that.

The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has shed some new light on this remake, detailing how the game will utilize the Wiimote, some of the activities, places, and townsfolk accessable in the game, and ... SWIMSUITS (which are, of course, a staple of any good JRPG).

Check out the scans below for more fantasy farming goodness.

Rune Factory Frontier will be available in Japan on November 27, 2008.

Open for translation requests below.

E3 2008: XSEED Marvelous Round-up

I really didn't cover XSEED's E3 offerings at all. This is partially because there wasn't a lot of new media released for any of them, and partially because they don't really interest me very much. (Hey, at least I'm honest about it.)

I've posted a little bit on what I could find. The majority of it comes from IGN, so if you're really interested in any of these titles, I would suggest checking their coverage.

Note that all of these games are published by Marvelous Entertainment in Japan. Looks like XSEED is really utilizing that partnership right out of the gate.
