The second game coming from the new Sting/Atlus merger is an original IP called Hexys Force. A turn-based anime-style RPG, Hexyz Force doesn't appear break any new ground in the RPG genre, but does look attractive. I'll keep my fingers crossed for at least a good story.
Anyways, the scans are rather difficult to see clearly, so I don't have any real details for the game (besides what I told you above). I like the artist that is in charge of the character designs (you may remember him from recent DS Summon Night games), so I have to say that the game is at least visually appealing.
Hexys Force will be available in Japan on November 12, 2009 on PSP.
I don't know if you heard, but Atlus acquired/merged with obscure developer/publisher Sting earlier this year. And now we get to behold the first fruits of their labours: a new Yggdra Union spinoff! Yay?
Announced via the recent issue of Weekly Famitsu, Yggdra Unison: Seiken Buyuuden (lit. Holy Sword Martial Story) is a 'what if' tale from the original title. The game remains a sort of SRPG, and retains the look of the original GBA game. I wasn't aware that Yggdra Union was the most popular of this series, but it appears that it is.
Anyway, Yggrda Unison SB is set to launch on Nintendo DS sometime this December in Japan.
So, I think this is the second last of the Amazon leaked Atlus titles to finally get an official confirmation, but Atlus has just dropped word that they are indeed localizing Sting's Knights in the Nightmare for Nintendo DS.
Knights in the Nightmare is the third game in the Riviera SRPGs from Sting, and follows a Valkyrie named Maria who guides a Wisp that can gather the souls of fallen knights and recruit them for battle. It has been described as a turn-based RTS, though I'm not entirely sure what that means.
Anyone familiar with either Riviera or Yggdra Union will likely be aware of Sting's different approach to the SRPG genre, and KitN looks to continue to try some new things.
Knights in the Nightmare will be available for Nintendo DS on June 2, 2009 in North America. It is already available in Japan.
So, it's been established: You despise your friends, and you want them to know it in a crushing, humiliating sort of way. So, you bought Dokapon Kingdom last year to enjoy ruining everything you have spent time building up. And that's great.
...But, you think, it's just not enough. Surely there is a way that you can kick your friends in the ribs even on the go.
Atlus has you covered, then, as they have recently announced Dokapon Journey for the Nintendo DS.
Now you can roll the dice, build your character, save the kingdom, and punch your friends in the back of the head wherever you go. Dokapon Journey offers an RPG/board game hybrid that is sure to bring sadness and pain where there was once laughter and joy.
This sounds tongue-in-cheek, but after I played Dokapon Kingdom last year, I can attest that the game will make you want to hit someone with a golf club. Repeatedly. I can imagine that Dokapon Journey will have similar effects.
Dokapon Journey will be available for Nintendo DS on April 14, 2009 in North America. It is already available in Japan.
Would you like to know what classes are playable in Atlus' upcoming Dokapon Kingdom? Would like to know what the benefits are for each class? Well you need look no further than the image below, courtesy of Atlus themselves.
Sorry if I got your panties in a knot yesterday. Atlus still has said nothing regarding a possible announcement of Persona 4 for North America. But, y'know, rumors are fun every now and again.
In decidedly less MegaTen-related news, Atlus has announced today a 4-player board game-RPG hybrid called Dokapon Kingdom. Set to hit PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii consoles on October 18 in North America, Dokapon Kingdom sets out to fill that hole in the game industry where the RPG and the board game don't quite meet up. ...Wait, did such a hole ever exist?
I really don't know what to say about this. After getting all my hopes up for Persona 4, only to be let down by Yggdra Union PSP, then getting this announcement, I can't honestly feel very excited about a board game-RPG.
But, being the incredible Atlus-whore that I am, we all know I'll be pre-ordering myself a copy.
Here is a little something I just found on the net and it made me just crack right up, 'Dokapon Kingdom'. Dokapon Kingdom appears to be a PS2/Wii game the will be hitting our shores in Oct of 2008, and is closely related to the DS game 'Dokapon Journey' which is being released in Japan in June (but as of yet has no American release date). Both of the Dokapon games appear to be in the board-game/RPG hybrid genres that are currently in production by Sting, the creators of Riviera and Yggdra Union. Both of the Dokapon games are 4 players and appear to have the plot of "screw everyone else" which makes the game play look awesome. The games appear to be very humorous as Atlus has already been throwing jokes around the net about the after math of playing a Dokapon Game. Dokapon Kingdoms' game description, on Atlus website, includes a warning that no relationship counseling is included with the game. There is also a mock apology letter that Atlas has also released from player 4 to player 1. (click to enlarge)
