Atlus dropped word late last week that they would be intentionally delaying the platforming action-RPG, Steal Princess by about one month.
Originally slated for release in March, then pushed back until mid-April, Atlus decided to hold the title back another month to allow for more people to get informed about the game, insisting that Arpil is a "crowded month." (I honestly don't know what they're talking about. I don't think I even need one whole hand to count the RPGs that are coming out this month.)
I have yet to see them step up any advertising, however. Is this really the reason for the delay?
Steal Princess will now be available for Nintendo DS on May 19, 2009 in North America. It is already available in Japan.
Maybe I'll give the Japanese version a spin to see if this game is really worth an extra month of waiting.
Atlus has just dropped word that two of their announced DS RPGs, The Dark Spire and Steal Princess, will be slightly delayed from their original shipping dates.
Citing a critical computer error that has made their main supercomputer self-aware and murderously evil, Atlus has pushed the dates of the two titles back by roughly a month each.
Success' 1st person dungeon crawler, The Dark Spire, originally intended for March 10, 2009, has been pushed back to April 14, 2009, while Climax and Marvelous' action-RPG, Steal Princess, has been delayed from March 24, 2009 to April 21, 2009.
Exactly how Atlus' supercomputer became self-aware, and just why it has pushed these games back by a month remains unclear, but our prayers go out to the Atlus employees who now fear for their lives.
Atlus, along with their announcement of Steal Princess, has also released the first trailer for the Western market. ...Problem is, there just isn't much English in it.
But it kinda has this artsy flair that I kind of liked.
Whatever, just watch it below.
Steal Princess will be available on Nintendo DS on March 24, 2009 in North America. It is already available in Japan.
Undaunted by the ESRB leakage a while back, Atlus has finally gotten around to confirming Marvelous and Climax's Steal Princess for North America. Shocking, I know.
Following the thief-turned-relunctant-hero Anise, Steal Princess is a hybrid of action-role-playing and platforming. The game also comes with a reportedly robust level creator that allows you to share your creations with friends (provided those friends also live in North America).
Atlus has slated Steal Princess for North American release on Nintendo DS on March 24, 2009. Interested parties can check out the official English site here. Oh, and here's the official Japanese site in case you missed it previously.
According to an ESRB rating leak, everyone's favorite obscure JRPG publisher, Atlus USA will be bringing Climax and Marvelous' DS RPG, Steal Princess: Touzoku Oujo to the North American masses.
Steal Princess follows the story of a treasure huntress named Anise who attempts to break steal the rumored treasure with the Demon Lord's Castle, but barely escapes with her life. When she wakes up, she finds herself entrusted with the duty of saving a prince who has been kidnapped by the Demon Lord.
An action-RPG, Steal Princess was release this last July in Japan, and probably flew so far under your radar that you had no idea it even existed, let alone had a chance of seeing North American localization.
We are awaiting on official word from Atlus. Until then, we'll have to call this a rumor.
For those interested, here is the official Japanese page.
P.S. Along with this leak, the ESRB lists another Atlus DS RPG called The Dark Spire. I don't know what game this could be, but I'll keep you posted.
