Arc Rise Fantasia gets Dated
Marvelous and imageepoch's upcoming turn-based Wii RPG, Arc Rise Fantasia, sort of pops in and out of the spotlight, refusing to be tied down. Perhaps that's a good thing, as it means it's fun to get excited for every now and again without going too far.
Regardless, Marvelous has finally gotten around to setting a launch date for the title in Japan, revealing that it will hit early this summer. Unfortunately, no word on the North American release has been made yet.
Arc Rise Fantasia will be available on Nintendo Wii on June 4, 2009 in Japan.
Now I think we're just waiting on a date for Little King's Story...

Arc Rise Fantasia Still Alive, Has a Trailer to Prove It
Seems like it's been a while since we last heard anything about Marvelous and imageepoch's upcoming Wii RPG, Arc Rise Fantasia. Since it definitely looks like one of the more promising RPGs for the Wii this year, it seemed a shame that it has been going undercover for so long.
Well Marvelous decided it was time to refresh everyone's memory, and dropped this brand, shiny new trailer. It is also a tad on the long side. Just so you know.
The game is definitely looking promising. I'm concerned, however, that there still doesn't seem to be a release date. Hmmm...

New Arc Rise Fantasia Character Revealed
More character reveals! This time its one for imageepoch and Marvelous' upcoming Wii title, Arc Rise Fantasia.
I don't know what else to say about it, so check out the new character below.
Nikol Venicks (20)
Once a low ranking soldier in the Meridia Imperial Army, Nikol couldn't handle army life and eventually deserted the army. As a result, he was sentenced to the death penalty, but was saved by Ralk. Since then he began to call Ralk his older brother and followed him around. He is full of himself and a liar to boot, but somehow remains a likeable person. His personality is weakness personified, though his skill with ranged gun attacks is quite strong. He is certainly more reliable in battle than in life.
Arc Rise Fantasia is due out for Nintendo Wii sometime early next year in Japan. There is no official date for a North American or European release at the moment.

New Arc Rise Fantasia Trailer to Feed Your SD Addiction
Maybe you just can't bear to part with that SDTV of yours. After all, you've had some good times together, and no new-fangled HD technology will ever make you forget all of those great times in SD. Thankfully, Nintendo chose to shy away from the progress of new technology and repackage their GameCube with a fancy waggle-wand that is 500% better than regular old buttons.
And thankfully, companies like Marvelous have continued to embrace low-end technology so that we can feel safe in our retro-active gaming habbits.
Sarcasm aside, Arc Rise Fantasia, though visually stuck in the past, actually looks pretty fun. But don't take my word for it, watch the rather long new trailer below (thanks Gamekyo).
Arc Rise Fantasia will be available for Nintendo Wii sometime in 2009 in both Japan and North America, though no solid date has yet to be confirmed.

TGS 2008: Arc Rise Fantasia Trailer - Now with Less Spoilers!
So maybe you wanted to watch the gameplay demo of Marvelous' Arc Rise Fantasia, but didn't want to spoil the opening of the game. I can respect that. And apparently, so can Marvelous. So they have released a trailer that isn't so much the beginning of the game, and is more like a trailer.
You can watch it in terrible audio and video quality below! (Thanks GameTrailers!)

TGS 2008: Watch the Beginning of Arc Rise Fantasia So You Won't be Surprised
Maybe sometimes you just can't make yourself play a game because you haven't seen the game's first 5 - 10 minutes. You think to yourself, "If only someone else would play the first 5 minutes of that game, maybe I would be more interested." Well, you officially have no reason to wonder about Arc Rise Fantasia anymore, as the demo available at TGS is just that. The first 5-ish minutes of the game.
Watch and be at peace.
The game actually looks pretty cool. On the radar.

Continued Arc Rising in Fantasia
As per request, here is the translation for the latest article in Famitsu regarding Marvelous and imageepoch’s upcoming Wii RPG, Arc Rise Fantasia. This article details a couple of new characters, as well as gives an overview of some features of the battle system.
As you will recall from the previous translation, ARF (silly acronym is silly) is set in the Meridian Empire, which, thanks to Light Summoning, has flourished. Unfortunately, the appearance of the Corrupted Dragons and a mysterious condition known as Crystalization has left the citizens of the Meridian Empire in fear.
The hero of the story, Ralk (whose name was originally “Bright” but seems to have been changed) is a member of a military unit dedicated to the destruction of the Corrupted Dragons. However, during an operation, he comes into contact with a mysterious girl named Rifia…
But that’s all old news. Below are the newly revealed characters:
Sarge (33)
“It worked out, so it’s fine, right? Quit being selfish!”
A member of a group of bandits, Sarge is cocky, talkative, womanizing, and unpredictable. He is laid back in terms of speech and action, but actually holds a hidden past.
He uses daggers in battle.
Leslie (22)
“What is it, boy? If you work that hard, you’ll wear yourself out.”
A woman in the middle of a journey, Leslie always maintains a composed attitude, and occasionally throws out arrogant remarks, but is basically an honest person.
She uses dual pistols in battle.
Necromancer (15)
“You don’t need to worry. I’ll come back and kill you later.”
A controller of the dead, she (?) strives to kill Rifia. Her motives are unknown.
She uses her fists in battle.
NOTE: This very well could be a boy (the article doesn't specifically mention the gender). I guessed female due to the slimmer figure, longer, purple hair, dress-like costume, and female voice actor. However, as many of you know, that doesn’t necessarily equal “female” in Japanese popular culture.
Next up, battle system:
ARF’s “Trinity Battle System” allows one team of three different characters. As you use the same characters together, their intimacy or friendship levels increase, giving your team various new effects and abilities. There are various skills that can be unlocked only through this system, so choosing your team will be very important.
Additionally, within the battle system there are attack combos that can activated. A “Single Connect” is a combo used by one character, meanwhile, the party can string a combo together known as a “Party Connect.” It also makes use of 4 different types of “Tandems” (Regular Tandem, Arm Tandem, Light Summon Tandem, and Ley Stone Tandem).
The article shows how chaining these Tandems will strengthen their skills. For example, the Arm Tandem “Steal” will eventually become “Plunder” through stringed use. Similarly, the Light Summon Tandem “Shine” will eventually become the much more powerful “Shine Bullet.”
Finally, the article highlights “Trinity Acts,” which are basically attacks that combine the “Excel Acts” of each active party member into a single powerful attack. There are various Trinity Acts available throughout the game, and using different characters will affect which are available to the party.
Arc Rise Fantasia is being developed by imageepoch, and will be published by Marvelous on the Nintendo Wii sometime this winter in Japan. There is currently no word on North American or European localization.

Arc Rise Fantasia Scans will Rise Your Arc
Okay, that is an awkward title. But let's face it: Arc Rise Fantasia is kind of an awkward name. Still looks like it might be fun though.
The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed several new characters for Marvelous and imageepoch's upcoming Wii RPG, including the obligatory busty chick that dresses like a whore for whatever reason (not that I'm complaining).
Take a look at the scans below and let me know what you think. Is the Wii finally getting some RPGs worth caring about? (And no, Giggity, Chocobo's Dungeon is NOT worth caring about.) Or are you unimpressed?
Arc Rise Fantasia will reportedly be available in Japan sometime this winter. No word yet on a North American or European release.

Arc Rise Fantasia will Fanatasize your... ah screw it.
Since all I had to go on with regarding Marvelous' recently announced Wii RPG Arc Rise Fantasia was it's title, developer, target platform, and a blurry photo, my coverage of it was understandably brief. Well, leave it to the internet to get out there and right the wrongs of our society, for some wonderful soul has scanned the entire article which has shed some light on this upcoming title.
Arc Rise Fantasia is set in what is called the Meridian Empire, a kingdom that is continually fighting against the Corrupted Dragons which plague the world. The Corrupted Dragons are a form of undead dragon that contaminate the world and destroy civilization.
The story focuses on a young mercanary named Bright. While working with the Meridian Knights, under the command of Arth, the second prince of Meridian and a close friend of Bright's, the company engages in battle against the Corrupted Dragons. In the middle of the battle, Bright comes into contact with a mysterious young woman named Rifia. Though she has little understanding of the world, she is amazingly gifted as a Coder and Songstress. Apparently, she will have a large role in the grander scheme of Bright and Arth's quest to save the world (of course).
Also featured is a young Light Summoner named Adel. The granddaughter of Bright's teacher, she is always cheerful, bright, and kind. She knows both Bright and Arth through her training as a Light Summoner (Arc Rise Fantasia's form of magic), which she is very skilled at.
The battle system appears to be a form of turn-based combat, where 3 characters form a battle party and share a set of Action Points (AP). Each action a character does in battle costs a different number of AP, and the article emphasizes that each character must play to their strengths while attempting to make up for the others' weaknesses.
Though no release date has been released, Marvelous Entertainment will be publishing Arc Rise Fantasia, imageepoch's fourth RPG, on Nintendo Wii in Japan. There is currently no word on North American or European release.

imageepoch Share their Arcs with Wii

Okay, so I don't usually post any Wii-related news. There are two good reasons for this. The first and most obvious is, there are hardly any RPGs for the Wii (but still more than the PS3, strangely enough). The second is, I don't play Wii very often. ...Well sometimes. ...Okay, really almost never.
Be that as it may! Developer and publisher team that brought you boobsy witch hunting on DS in the form of Luminous Arc - imageepoch and Marvelous - are teaming up again to bring you an RPG for the Wii: Arc Rise Fantasia.
....Aaaand that's really all we know at this point. The game is supposedly going to be a "traditional" RPG, whatever that means. So for what it's worth, it won't be an SRPG. I think. At least, I don't think SRPGs are usually considered "traditional."
...Whatever. Anyhow, though no real info of any sort has been presented at this point, due to XSEED's recent partnership with Marvelous, it seems close to 100% likely that this game will eventually see North American shores at some point in the future.
We'll bring you updates as we get them.
