tri-Ace and Square Enix have just released a new trailer for their upcoming Xbox 360 title Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope.
I'll save my witty banter for after the trailer. For now, watch it:
As the headline implies, I'm a little torn on the trailer. On the one hand, I love the Star Ocean series and have every confidence that SO4 will be incredibly fun. The environments look fantastic, the character models are very detailed, and the battles look like orgasmic levels of awesome. However, the in-game character faces felt very lifeless in this trailer, sort of like marionettes. It kind of creeps me out...
To be fair, though, the in-game animations in Infinite Undiscovery were similarly lifeless-looking and were similarly worrisome, though I found that while actually playing the game, they didn't bother me at all. I'm hoping that is the case with Star Ocean 4 as well.
Also, bewbs! (Roughly 2:48) The next character reveal? Fingers crossed! :D
Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope will be available for Xbox 360 on February 19, 2009 in Japan, and on March 3, 2009 in North America.
P.S. This is probably the trailer that will be shown at JumpFesta this weekend. The game is not slated to appear as a playable title at the event, so this is likely all the new media you'll get.

It reminded me of Chucky.
Haha, I don't know if it was THAT bad, but yeah, the animations could use some polish.
