In news that should get a few WRPG fans either very happy or very pissed off, Deep Silver has announced that Piranha Bytes' previously announced PC RPG Risen will instead be released on Xbox 360.
Piranha Bytes - the developers behind the Gothic series - have been working on Risen for a while now, and had originally planned the game for a Windows PC release. They, nor the publisher Deep Silver have commented on why the switch to Xbox 360 was made.
There are somewhat conflicting reports that claim that the PC version is still in development and will release at the same time as the newly announced 360 version, but I can't confirm this at the moment as the official press release only mentions the Xbox 360 version.
It should be noted, however, that Deep Silver's webpage only notes a PC release for the game.
Ugh, that's a little too much drama for a game from a developer that I don't particularly like, but there you go.
Risen is set to be released in North America sometime in 2009.
