As previously reported, Europe got its End of Eternity (AKA Resonance of Fate) release date confirmed last week, and as expected, North America's was announced (albeit very quietly) right afterward.
And, similarly to Europe's release, tri-Ace's 3rd current gen RPG will be hitting North American Xbox 360s and PlayStation 3s mid-March. Yes, right after Final Fantasy XIII.
I don't know if I should tip my hat to Sega for their sheer bravery or shake my head sadly for their apparent stupidity. Whether or not you think End of Eternity is going to be better than FFXIII is really a moot point, as either way FFXIII is clearly the heavyweight of March.
I'll be buying both, but I have learned that I am a clear minority amongst gamers.
End of Eternity will be available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as Resonance of Fate on March 16, 2010 in North America and March 26, 2010 in Europe.
So Sega is publishing tri-Ace's third 7th generation RPG, End of Eternity. Unlike previous tri-Ace games, EoE is a gun-based title with only 3 playable characters. Additionally, it is the very first tri-Ace title to get a true multiplatform release.
Though the game was released last month in Japan, Westerners have had to do with a vague promise that the game will someday be released to us too, albeit under the strange name Resonance of Fate.
Sega of Europe has recently - and very quiety - revealed the game's European release, along with its cover art. And that release is much earlier than many expected, apparently due late next month!
Though Sega of America still lists the game for 'Spring 2010,' North American and European release dates for 360/PS3 titles have gotten much closer to each other, often no more than a week apart. We expect Sega of America to announce something soon, but until then, planning your calendar around late March is probably a good guess.
Though its proximity to Final Fantasy XIII seems to seal its fate as second fiddle for most gamers.
But, hey, I never claimed to understand Sega.
Resonance of Fate will be available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 26, 2010 in Europe. It is already available as End of Eternity in Japan.
Dust off your Japanese Xbox Live / PlayStation Network accounts, as Sega and tri-Ace's upcoming multiplatform RPG, End of Eternity (also curiously known in the West as Resonance of Fate, for some unknown reason) will be getting a Japanese demo on December 22, 2009, just in time for Christmas.
For the forgetful, End of Eternity follows three PMF mercenaries, Zephyr, Vashyron, and Reanbell, as they discover the secret behind Earth's last hospitable shelter, the floating mechanical city of Basel.
The demo will reportedly feature a playable scenario original to the demo, and will give players a chance to test out the battle system for themselves.
I haven't done much with my Japanese XBL account since the Magna Carta II demo earlier this year, so I'll be downloading this day one. Also, moar HD RPGs please.
End of Eternity will be available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on January 28, 2010, and sometime next Spring in North America and Europe as Resonance of Fate.
tri-Ace have been keeping themselves busy since 7th gen started, and are getting ready to unload their 3rd HD RPG, End of Eternity.
For the forgetful, EoE follows the exploits of three mercenaries, Zephyr, Reanbell, and Vashyron, within the last surviving human city on (actually 'above') Earth: Basel. Though we still don't know much about everything going on behind the scenes, a young woman know only as Subject #20 appears to have a significant role in the fate of what is left of the world.
EoE is currently playable on the show floor of TGS, and Sega has also given us a new trailer for the game, which you can conveniently watch below. Enjoy!
End of Eternity is still without a solid release date, with Sega mentioning a Japanese release of 'This Winter' and and North American release of 'Next Spring.' It will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
News is always a little slow during the summer months for RPGs. Not always sure why, but what can you do, right?
In an attempt to satiate your need for new RPG developments, Sega and Namco Bandai have each released new gameplay-heavy trailers for their respective upcoming RPGs, End of Eternity and Mangna Carta II (developed by tri-Ace and Softmax respectively). Take a watch below.
End of Eternity
Magna Carta II
Hm, both are looking promising. Anyone have a favorite?
End of Eternity will be available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sometime this Winter in Japan. It will be available as Resonance of Fate in North America sometime next Spring.
Magna Carta II will be available for Xbox 360 on August 6, 2009 in Japan, and sometime during the third quarter of 2009 in North America.
Yes, I have once again fallen behind in scan coverage. So here I am, trying to make it up in one fell swoop. As usual, take a look at the scans below, or at least the ones that interest you. :)
End of Eternity (Resonance of Fate in NA) Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 tri-Ace, Sega Winter 2009 (Japan), Spring 2010 (North America)
Last Rebellion PlayStation 3 Hit Maker, Nippon Ichi/NIS America Winter 2009 (Japan & North America)
Magna Carta II Xbox 360 Softmax, Banpresto, Namco Bandai August 6, 2009 (Japan), Q3 2009 (North America)
Tales of Graces Nintendo Wii Namco Bandai Winter 2009 (Japan)
Lots of cool-looking titles on the horizon, that's for sure. I will take translation requests in the comments, though I would like to get a hold of some nicer scans for Magna Carta II and Last Rebellion before trying to read the whole articles.
So we've seen the pre-rendered teasers for tri-Ace and Sega's upcoming multiplatform RPG, End of Eternity (pointlessly renamed to Resonance of Fate for North America), and we've heard a little bit about how it plays, but we're still pretty out in the dark on the whole thing.
Famitsu, however, has recently run a feature giving us a little more detail on exactly how the battle system works. I thought this might be revelant to some of your interests, so I took the liberty of translating it.
In the spirit of JRPG developers naming their battle systems with random acronyms, EoE's battle system is reportedly called t.A.B. (short for 'tri-Attack Battle'). At least it's short.
Despite it's real-time elements I detailed for you from the last article, t.A.B. reportedly functions in a very turn-based style, with each of your friendly characters getting a limited amount of time to move around and perform actions (think something along the lines of Eternal Sonata).
During each character's "turn," you are free to move around the battlefield and change up equipment as you please. However, once you attack, your turn is over, regardless of how much extra time you may have.
Once you have told your character to attack, they enter a "charge" mode, where they take a specified amount of time "charging" their attack before actually inflicting any damage. Your charge time for each attack will differ depending on your distance from the enemy/enemies you have targeted. Being closer to your target will allow for shorter charge times, but will leave you more open to receive attacks. These charges can reportedly be "saved" and added on top of each other to facilitate bigger attacks, though exactly how this works has not been made known.
Finally, it is interesting to note that enemies do not have turns of their own. Instead, they are permitted to move and act while your characters are doing so. Thus, charging your attacks will certainly leave you vulnerable to your enemies.
To show the game off in motion, Sega has also released a new trailer for the game showing off some brief battle footage. Though it doesn't do much in the way of explaining much, it gives you an idea of how the game will look in motion. You can check it out below.
End of Eternity will be available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sometime this winter in Japan, and sometime next spring in North America as Resonance of Fate.
Well, chock this one up to 'Sega of America is still the retarded kid at the back of the class,' the seemingly brainless company has recently announced that it will be bringing Resonance of Fate to North America in Spring 2010.
Hey, you say, you've never heard of Resonance of Fate before! Is this a new IP? Er, well, yes it is, but maybe not as new as you might think, as it is just a renaming of the upcoming tri-Ace developed Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 RPG, End of Eternity.
For the forgetful, End of Eternity is an action-RPG with turn-based functionality built in set in a dystopic city floating above the surface of a destroyed Earth in the future. The game is the first tri-Ace project without Enix's publishing supervision, and tri-Ace's first true multiplatform game. It is due out sometime late this year in Japan.
So, why the completely irrelevant name change? Why the extra wait for a North American version? It's Sega. Need I say more?
Ugh (facepalm). As if we needed more proof that Sega of America is totally clueless.
North America Debut Trailer
End of Eternity will be available in Japan this Winter in Japan, and next Spring in North America (as Resonance of Fate) on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
