Sorry I haven't really covered the first episode of Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, mostly because writing out the game's name alone takes nearly an hour. The first episode of the game by the guys that write the popular comic came out on PC and XBLA during the summer, and received surprisingly good scores for a downloadable game.Hothead Games (the studio behind the game's production) has announced that episode 2 is finished and will be available next week on PC (Windows, Mac, or Linux) for $14.95, and on XBLA for 1200 points, making it about $5 cheaper than its predecessor.PlayStation 3 owners who wanted to get in on the action can finally download the first episode on PSN starting this week for $15. Though there are plans to eventually bring episode 2 to PSN as well, there is no current release date other than the vague promise that it will be "sometime before Christmas."I like Penny Arcade, but haven't really gotten around to playing episode 1 yet. Guess I should.P.S. I've ammended this week's RPGs of the Week column to reflect episode 1 hitting PSN.
I don't know how many of you are in the know regarding Microsoft's XNA Creators' Club on Xbox Live, but in a nutshell, it's a service that you pay an annual fee to join, which lets you develop your own games and sell them on Xbox Live Arcade for real moneys.There are already various tools available to would-be developers, but apparently Enterbrain is planning on releasing some of its Maker games on the system, including the newest addition to its RPG Maker series (probably its best known and most popular series).So far there is no release date for the program, and it is currently unclear if it will be RPG Maker VX or something new. Regardless, this is cool news for any budding RPG developers in our midst.
As a note, Enterbrain's Action Game Maker (Akushon Geemu Tsukuuru) will be available first on XNA, coming out in Japan on December 12, 2008.I'll keep you updated as I learn more. Thanks to XNEWS for the tip.

Xbox Live has currently begun a sale on downloadable content for several of its titles including popular RPGs Oblivion, Mass Effect, and Lost Odyssey. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion's "Shivering Isles" is a rather large expansion to the game, and normally runs for 2400 points, but is on for 1600 right now.Mass Effect's "Bringing Down the Sky" features a new planet, race, and mission for the game. Normally at 400 points, it is currently on sale for 300.Finally, Lost Odyssey's "Triple Bonus Pack" contains a new dream and a super powerful ring, running discounted from 200 points down to 120. As a note, those who preordered Lost Odyssey nabbed this DLC for free. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the extra dungeon DLC, "Seeker of the Deep," is affected by this sale. =(The sale, titled "Extended Play Download Days" is on now until the end of October. It features other non-RPG titles as well, all of which can be found on Major Nelson's blog.I'm personally going to use this as an excuse to nab Bringing Down the Sky, though I am a little bummed that Seeker of the Deep isn't on sale.
