After years of delays, platform changes, unnecessary hype, and a few blatant lies, Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII is finally hitting stores in North America and Europe this week (though anyone who reads this blog certainly knows that already).
Just in case you aren't interested in Final Fantasy XIII, or are wanting to get a different RPG, check out what other titles are hitting shelves this week (March 8 - 13, 2010):
North America
Final Fantasy XIII – Square Enix – PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Foto Showdown – Konami – DSiWare
Spectral Force Genesis – Idea Factory, Ignition – Nintendo DS
Japan
7th Dragon (Low-Price) – imageepoch, Sega – Nintendo DS
Battle Spirits: Hero’s Soul – Namco Bandai – PSP
Blade Chronicle: Samurai Online – DWANGO, E-Frontier – PC
RPG Tsukuru DS – Enterbrain – Nintendo DS
Summon Night Granthese: Horobi no Ken to Yakusoku no Kishi – Flight Plan, Banpresto, Namco Bandai – PlayStation 2

Final Fantasy XIII – Square Enix – PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Besides Final Fantasy XIII for PS3 and 360, North America is getting a DSi downloadable RPG from Konami and Idea Factory's Spectral Force Genesis, while Europe gets Matrix's Avalon Code for DS.
Japan - who already got their FFXIII a few months back - gets a few PSP RPGs, a hard copy of Blade Chronicle, RPG Maker for the DS, and a new PS2 RPG from Flight Plan, who apparently can't get with the times. Oh, and a budget reprint of Sega's 7th Dragon.
So, anything for you this week?

FF13 of course! I'm also getting RE5 Gold Edition and I'll probably pick up FF2 on the Virtual Console.
I'm still a bit disappointed that 13 doesn't build on the direction that 12 was taking the series in, but I think I'm going to enjoy it just the same.
12 seems to be extremely polarizing. either people seem to love it or despise it. i happen to be in the latter group as i felt it had little - if anything - in common with FFs 1-10. so for me, to see FF13 return to ATB and other traditional systems is the main draw for me to it.
that said, i have heard that the lack of traditional towns and sidequests does hurt the experience for some.
maybe i'm in the minority, but i think Final Fantasy lost its soul when Square lost Sakaguchi.
that said, it looks like a solid (and obviously gorgeous) JRPG, and there just aren't enough of those these days. definite buy for me. :)
^lol FF lost it's soul along time ago.
how can a series that's been going on this long not ? lol.
FF is graphics an nothing else really, an it seems this time they made sure of that with the removal of towns ect.
anyway i'm glad the battle system is more traditional.
let's just hope it's actually fun to play.
we'll see.
Well, three chapters in, I have to say the game is awesome so far. The graphics are great though not exactly jaw-dropping-- I'm sure it's more impressive on PS3 but oh well. The battle system is a lot of fun and the characters are cool. The story is intriguing so far but it's one of those games where you have to read the codex entries to make sense of everything, because if you tried to rely just on the dialog you'd be lost.
