Every good fantasy story needs an afro-sporting gunslinger. I'm pretty sure there's a rule about it somewhere. And Final Fantasy XIII has that covered with the newest revealed playable character via this week's Weekly Jump. Check out his translated character description below.
Sazh Katzroy
Gentle and easily moved to tears, Sazh is a middle-aged man who can discern between social responsibility and discrimination. So then, why is he helping Lightning, the "Enemy of Mankind"?
According to the aricle, Sazh is one of Lightning's first allies, and is playable in the upcoming demo (included with the first printing of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Bluray in Japan). He appears to weild dual pistols in battle, and uses his afro as a baby chocobo nest.
Seems like an interesting dude.
Thanks to zerolocked for the tip!
Final Fantasy XIII will be available sometime this year on PlayStation 3 in Japan, and later on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America and Europe.

Well... wow. I'm not even sure what to think about this. The afro is definitely cringeworthy, but on balance the character doesn't seem quite as ridiculously stereotypical as Barret. I'm hoping that the localizers can find a way to make this character less embarrassing than what I'm imagining.
I don't know... He looks like he'll probably be pretty embarrassing...
But I think he looks like he'll be pretty good comic relief.
Almost everyone is a stereotype in most games, so as long as he's a likable character, I don't have any complaints.
"Slap me some Phoenix Dizzle, sucka! Dy-no-mite!"
